The technique introduced b y J eme for enumerat ing ant ibody-forming cells in agar (1, 2) permi ts precise analysis of the cellular kinetics of the immune response to sheep erythrocytes . I n an earlier paper the kinetic events and the a l terat ions in nucleic acid metabol ism observed during the induction of tolerance to this ant igen with the immunosuppressive drug cyclophosphamide were analyzed (3). The present manuscr ip t describes the recovery from this type of tolerance and defines the role of the thymus.
